What was your background before joining DBMC?
I am originally from Florida and started my career in Information Technology at GE Healthcare as part of their leadership development program, where I led teams within Operations and Finance as part of a business-wide transformation. As my career progressed, I looked to fulfill my dream of living abroad, which led me to pursue an MBA in the UK. Post-graduation I settled in London and transitioned into the management consulting industry within financial services, and where I enjoyed frequent client engagements across the UK, China, and India.
What attracted you to DBMC?
In my previous management consulting role, my clients were predominantly global banking institutions, which provided me with great insight into the world of finance and its unique challenges. Post-pandemic, I was looking to move away from 80% travel, which led me to the concept of in-house consulting. Working at DBMC was a perfect fit, as it allowed me to continue my passion for delivering strategic and impactful projects to clients, in addition to providing me the opportunity to deepen my finance industry knowledge at a world-class bank.
What is your favorite part of working at DBMC?
My colleagues! I know it sounds very cliche, but company culture is very important to me. It feels great to work with talented individuals who came from diverse backgrounds and have interesting hobbies outside of work. This can be said for our DBMC colleagues across our four global locations, which makes for unique learning experiences with cross location-staffed projects and knowledge sharing sessions.
Tell us about a project you worked on
My most recent project was challenging. DBMC was asked to design and implement an Agile operating model across multiple areas of the Bank with different customer segments, KPIs, and strategic priorities. We facilitated meetings, interviews, and workshops with senior leadership to understand their business challenges and to demonstrate why our proposed solution would benefit the business. This project helped me learn the value of story-lining to get the greenlight to move a project forward and gain necessary buy-in.
What's something you've learned while at DBMC?
At DBMC I've learned to appreciate the value that our analysis and insight brings to DB and how we support the growth of the company. As an in-house consultant, I can witness the end-to-end impact of my recommendations, which leaves me with a great sense of responsibility and motivation to do my job well!
What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Performing arts and dance have always played a huge part in my life, ranging from theater to gymnastics, and later cheerleading until I went to university. While I worked at GE, I was also an NBA Dancer for the Milwaukee Bucks for one season, where I performed in 41 home games while maintaining my professional career! Today I still dance (mostly salsa/bachata), participate in capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art, and serve as a volunteer tutor for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
